From humble beginnings, Filippo Navarra opened his first venue Conca D’oro in 1973. The hardworking migrant, alongside his wife Sarina, put everything they had on the line to begin their new family business in the events industry.
Under direction of Filippo’s children, the company first built on dreams is now established as a family business driven by passion, perseverance and perfection. Priding themselves on hospitality excellence, Navarra continues to provide only the best in cuisine and service.
It is because of this attention to detail and insistence for perfection that has gained the respect and trust by everyone who knows the name, Navarra.
Family is very important to my father. He would keep up with visits and phone calls and respect for friends, family, and clients. We grew up in a fast-paced and spontaneous environment: like, “Let’s go out for pizza or pancakes” on the rocks at 11:00 pm on a school night was normal. Life was fun.
Dad’s Philosophy was to open his doors like family to everyone. It was a place of trust. He remembered people by name and the date you had your event, even sometimes after 10 years. He genuinely cared about his clients and made time for them. His generosity and ability to transform the hospitality industry through innovation, trust and client happiness is a base no one can surpass.
I am so proud of this achievement. It humbles me as I remember, as a young girl, the humble beginnings that Mum and Dad built for us and sacrificed for us. I love Mum and Dad’s story of pride, romance, triumphs, hardships, creativity, resilience, humility, ambition and strength.
I personally would love to see Navarra be a teacher in the industry. Help young start-up businesses and young entrepreneurs of today know what it takes to succeed; be taught to enter the world of hospitality with excitement. It’s a truly magical industry.
