Our History

From humble beginnings, Navarra Venues has developed into one of Sydney’s most prestigious companies hosting an extensive range of events throughout a 45-plus year history. It now runs five unique Sydney venues that host a vast array of functions every week of the year.

Our Founder

When Founder and CEO Filippo Navarra left Sicily in 1965 bound for Australia, his dream was to create a business that would showcase his passion for Italian food, wine and time spent with family and friends.

In 1973, Filippo Navarra together with his young wife Sarina started to make the dream a reality when they purchased their first venue, the Clarendon Ballroom in Riverwood. With his exquisite eye for detail, Filippo Navarra recognised the potential to expand into a niche market where he was committed to offering beautiful wedding receptions as a fulfilling and viable business opportunity. He called his first venue Conca D’oro – the Golden Urn. The generosity, charm and personal touch practised by Mr Navarra and subsequently his sons – Sal and Giovannino, now an integral part of the family businesses, has become legendary.

Our Culture

This elevated Navarra Venues to a unique place in the landscape of hospitality in Sydney. The business expanded with the purchase of the former Apia Club in 1996 – renamed ‘Le Montage’, followed in 2003 with the acquisition of the splendid Curzon Hall and the heritage property Oatlands House in 2012. Throughout the four decades, Navarra Venues has sculptured a unique culture of its own, one that is accentuated by hard work and desire for excellence.

Operating for over 45 years now, Navarra Venues have “hosted more than 68,000 events, served over 17 million drinks and catered for more than 5.6 million people. This includes prime ministers and celebrities as well as providing the backdrop for popular TV shows such as Australia’s Next Top Model, Beauty and The Geek, The Bachelor and My Kitchen Rules,” says Filippo’s son Giovannino, who is now the Director of Navarra Venues.
