Italians are well known for their delicious food, this stems from history, generations and generations of families passionate about turning simple things into life-long memories, bringing people together around a table, feeling connected and sharing a sense of belonging to those around them.
In the Italian mother tongue, the meaning is even more pronounced (though the translation never sounds as good as the original):
- A tavola non si invecchia.
Translation: At the table with good friends and family you do not become old.
- Chi mangia sulo s’affoga.
Translation: He who eats alone, suffocates.
- La cucina piccola fal la casa grande.
Translation: A small kitchen makes the house big.
What goes on behind the scenes of our kitchen at Navarra Venues and how are our dishes infused with the love passion food embodies?
It all begins with selecting the right people for the job!
Vision, passion and knowledge of food is a non-negotiable when searching for Navarra Venues’ chefs. Additionally, knowledge of the current market and skills to keep up with the ever-changing industry are essential to staying ahead of the game. Our chefs review the menus constantly to ensure the menu items are a reflection of our innovation within the ever changing events industry.
Then of course, comes quality!
You can have a vision but if you don’t have the right material, it’ll never produce the right fruit. The dedication to quality is an attribute evident in the Navarra Venues company. Our chefs along with our director, Marie Florio and CEO, Sal Navarra, work closely together to curate a menu using the highest quality produce within Australia. Our menus take into account the current market, which is why our menu cannot simply be a set-and-forget project. Environmental factors can affect specific ingredients and the determination to maintain the highest quality menu items means that settling for less than perfect ingredients out of convenience is simply not an option.
We have the chefs, we have the produce, now we need to let the artists do their work! When you come across professionals in the field of food, you’re best to let them do what they do best. Create. The management team and chefs at Navarra Venues gather multiple times a year for a ‘Menu Creation Day’. This is an opportunity for everyone to bring all their knowledge and skills to the table (literally) and put forward innovative and delicious plates of food. Each item put forward is sampled and if successful, is selected. This day produces the official Navarra Venues menu, available at all five venues.
