Morning Person VS. Night Person; The Battle of Fun

Do you either; jump out of bed and thank the lovely cockatoos for reminding you to start your day, or do you struggle to even come to, and fall back asleep for another 3 hours?

Morning Person VS. Night Person; The Battle of Fun

It’s 6am in May. The sun is still asleep as the moon starts heading to its slumber. You are woken by the selfish cries of the birds outside your window. Do you either; jump out of bed and thank the lovely cockatoos for reminding you to start your day, or do you struggle to even come to, and fall back asleep for another 3 hours?

Chances are, you already know if you’re a morning person or a night person. The name given to these two chronotypes by scientists are “larks” and “owls”. Larks are early morning people who tend to go to sleep at a respectable evening hour, whilst Owls are most alert at night, and typically turn in long after dark. So, which has more fun?

Whilst it is quite common to shift from lark to owl over time, for most people, they tend to stay familiar with their daily patterns. We’re here to tell you, that regardless of if you are a ‘lark’ or an ‘owl’, there’s no winner and no loser. You can both equally have the same fun (Ugh, boring answer. Sorry).

LARKS

Who doesn’t love early morning activities? Imagine the clock ticking 9am and you’ve already woken up, made a smoothie, went to the gym, came home, showered, made and ate breakfast, got ready and travelled to work. Wow. Your day may as well be done. Whilst this may seem exhausting for some, this is brilliant for Larks. This means that they have accomplished so much in the day already that their afternoons and evenings are cleared and ready for some leisure. More time to spare in afternoon and evenings? Does that mean Larks have more fun?

OWLS

Ok, so Owls may not be able to physically do much before late morning, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t productive. ‘Night people’ thrive the later in the day. Energy is sustained during their deep, long slumber, and kicks in from the afternoon onward. While Larks may have achieved more earlier in the day, they tend to get tired earlier in the evening. On the other hand, Owls are peaking in the night. Energy allows them to kick until the early hours of the morning. This is the perfect type of person who loves a good party in the night. So, do Owls have more fun?
