Real Wedding Story of Adam & Rebecca
Oatlands House was proud to host the recent wedding reception of Adam and Rebecca. The lovely bride has generously shared her story with us…
HOW WE FIRST MET
Adam and I met at the age of 15; we lived in the same street. There was a spark between us from day 1, but we were young so we never did anything about it. I called him a few years later and we decided to catch. We started dating in our final year at school and 8 years later here we are getting married.
We fought a long hard battle to be with each other, facing many hurdles along the way. Cultural differences and living in separate countries meant these years were like a roller-coaster ride. There were many tears and sleepless nights but we overcame these hurdles; we were just two people who wanted to be together.
I was living in Sweden and it had been 6 months since I had seen Adam. He surprised me with an amazing gift – a ticket to meet him in Hawaii. Little did I know Adam had planned a dream proposal before I even got there!
Once we were reunited in Hawaii, he organised a spa day for me whilst he planned a romantic dinner on the beach followed by a walk and a perfectly amazing proposal on the pier.
I wanted to be totally involved in the planning of our wedding as I had dreamt of this day for so many years. We started looking for venues and Oatlands House was the last one we visited, but it was our absolute favourite. There was no hesitation that we both wanted to book it.
I made many visits to and from Oatlands House simply because it was an absolute delight working with everyone there and it felt like home. Naomi was so patient and really cared to ensure everything went smoothly.
Planning our wedding became part of my every-day for the next 10 months. I enjoyed every minute of it despite the stress and juggling work. I think it is really important to be involved and know what is going on. You only get to experience this once in your life after all.
I knew exactly which suppliers I wanted to book for our big day and must say it was an absolute pleasure working with them all, who came to be like our friends. I would like to think I had the A-Team for our wedding.
I think it’s important that your wedding is a true reflection of the bride and groom. I enjoyed getting Adam involved, as it was just as much his big day as mine. I imagined my day to be magical and had always wanted a romantic candle lit reception (I love candles). But when I walked into Oatlands House Garden Ballroom it was beyond my expectations. Every detail from the venue to the food was totally us. If I could give any advice it would be to make your wedding something you love.
THE WEDDING DAY
Our wedding day was the best day of our lives. Adam and I both feel it was a genuinely amazing day. We couldn’t fault anything.
Our wedding ceremony was held at Curzon Hall – it was an emotional and joyful moment for us both. I couldn’t help but choke up during our vows. After all the obstacles we had overcome, I really appreciated the moment we finally become one.
I felt like a true princess that day in my Steven Khalil dress and Adam looked like the perfect prince in his white tux. We couldn’t wait to get to Oatlands House and take some more amazing photos. It was so much fun!
We were greeted the moment we stepped out of the car and I immediately felt relieved and less nervous. The reception looked immaculate and beyond my expectations, so classy and romantic – still can’t get over it.
Adam and I wanted our entrance to be big, one of the most important parts of the night to get our guests into party mode. We had 12 drummers, fire spitters, conga drummers, a saxophone and more! Sophia from X-Factor who attended as a guest kindly agreed to sing as part of our entrance. Accompanied by Zaffet Lebnen they made a great team. Adam picked Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey as he felt this song reminded him of us.
We booked an Arabic singer and had a fantastic band called Sincopa who gave our reception an amazing atmosphere and got everyone on the dance floor.
I wanted our guests to feel totally looked after as we appreciated their presence on the day. I am overwhelmed with the feedback we received from everyone regarding the service from Oatlands House. Many of our family and friends are looking forward to booking their own big day at Oatlands House after the impression they got at our wedding! It’s the small gestures you appreciate, like food and drinks that were served to us from the moment we arrived, very much required after such a long day. We couldn’t be happier with how it all came along.
I wouldn’t change anything, we enjoyed the day and I only wish we could re live it over again!
Thank you to Oatlands House for making this possible!
